YOU DO NOT FEAR THE NIGHT
Come take a walk with me,
We'd walk past that shadowed hill,
The one made of rocks and trees,
The one that looks like folded black paper,
Against the purply black midnight sky,
Let's stand upon it and reach for the sky,
It looks just within touch, looking at it from here,
Perhaps we'd place a ladder upon that hill,
And climb it to the crescent moon,
She looks awfully tired, perhaps we can cheer her up,
Let's listen to this wind, the one that sounds like a stream,
Passing through the trees, it sounds like water on a rock,
Perhaps we should sail her, and make it to the moon,
We only need spread our arms, and she'll take us with her,
Close your eyes and inhale deep, let her take us with her,
But truly, the hills do look like lines,
Drawn against the sky in black coal paper,
Like I can fold it and put in my pocket,
Come and take a walk with me,
Perhaps we can just reach up and touch the stars,
How peaceful the world is, when all that is man sleeps,
The sun shall rise, the moon will be gone,
And then we can wonder, where it all went wrong,
But now, come take a walk with me,
Midnight is the most beautiful time of day,
Don't ever fear night, fear the day,
That is when the darkness of man awakens,
That is when my eyes weary, and my tongue falters,
You fear the night, because you only fear the unknown,
But be wary of day,
Because in all that light, in all that sun,
In all that clearness that is day,
We see with our eyes and not our hearts,
And fear the night when it slowly does come,
Come and take a walk with me,
It is not the night you fear,
It is that you can't see with your eyes, that you fear,
You do not fear the night,
You only fear yourself,
Perhaps you have not done enough good,
To assure you the night can't harm you.
