MY NEW YEAR CONFESSION: Why new year resolutions don't work

So I have a confession to make; I totally forgot today is the beginning of a new year..... Juuuuuuuust kidding, hehehehe.
It's that time again; the count down, fire works, shouts of "Happy New Yeeeeeaar!" , followed by the revered NEW YEAR RESOLUTION.
I didn't make any resolutions this year, I didn't check if i kept to the resolutions I made last year; Why, you ask?, I'm about to tell you....

We stay awake and usher in the beginning of that new year, the great year of hope, the flourishing bud on our tree of dreams, and we resolve to love better, to work harder, to be better, to achieve more... but then deep down inside you, somewhere deeeeep down, that voice keeps tugging at you, you hear it as if in a dream, the voice is saying "who are you kidding?, you'll end up not keeping to all these resolutions just like you failed previous years"....... But oh that human hope, that desire to try, you push the voice away and pray so hard that you won't fail again this year......

Two months later....VOICE: "hey pal, how about that new year resolution?"   YOU: "Oh that, well ehm....", I don't need to complete it for you; you know how the story goes, and the cycle continues.
So this year I'm making no new resolutions. Why do we fail at this?, because we forget the purpose of those resolutions. We forget that we made those resolutions because we want to change the world, to change our suffering, and therefore we keep suffering.
I didn't make any resolutions this year, but here is my confession: I LIED, because I made one resolution, and it is this... I resolved that I won't make my resolutions a "One Day" event; I'll resolve every single day of my existence to be better, to love better, to do better, to smile better, to teach with patience and respect; I'll resolve everyday, and not just on the 1st of every January, to live everyday without fear and without regret, to apologise when I'm wrong and to forgive all harm done, to understand that everyone has their pain, and that their attitudes towards me has nothing to do with me but has everything to do with what they've been through, and what they're going through; to help when I can, and to hold the hands of those in need of my guidance; to have a learning heart.
Yes, I lied, I made a resolution this year, the same resolution I made last year, to keep resolving everyday as long as I live, and not just on the 1st of January, to make this world a better place by making myself a better person.
Resolve everyday of your existence, and bathe everyday with your resolutions. The sun rises everyday with a reason; rise everyday with a resolve.
Happy New Year, and to all a blessed 2016, and a blessed forever.
